About Glenmorangie - A Tale Of Ice Cream - Limited Edition - Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Glenmorangie aged in high vanillin and bourbon casks

What are high Vanillin casks?

Vanillin is an aromatic compound which brings vanilla flavours to whisky. When you toast barrels, the lignin (which  aids the wood’s structure) breaks down and releases compounds including vanillin.
Glenmorangie’s high-vanillin casks were toasted in a  particular way, to create higher concentrations of  vanillin.
This is the first time casks toasted to achieve this effect have been used at Glenmorangie. The Distillery’s whisky  creators experimented with a variety of different woods,  before selecting virgin oak casks toasted in this particular  way.
This whisky does not contain vanilla extract, in line with  the rules which govern Scotch whisky.

Colour: Bronze

Aroma: A burst of Manuka honey, with lemon butter candy, baking raisin bread, candied orange peel, peaches, toffee and a hint of spice. With a splash of water, there is vanilla crème anglaise, a hint of coconut and a whiff of almond marzipan.

Taste: The texture is thick, rich and creamy, and is followed by a huge burst of sweet and spicy flavours – brioche, almond marzipan, honeycomb, fudge, lemon sherbet and desiccated coconut. The spices warm up the palate, with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove.

Finish: A long, lingering aftertaste that has hints of  toffee apple, butterkist popcorn and a hint of  aniseed.
