About Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Tokaji Cask Finish - Batch 2 - Unpeated

This six year old release from The Glasgow Distillery showcases their fruity unpeated single malt with a rare Hungarian sweet wine cask influence. Initially matured within first fill ex-bourbon casks, this release has undergone an extended secondary maturation of 3 years and 6 months within Tokaji wine casks to offer notes of tropical mango, pineapple orange, dried apricot, cashew nuts, manuka honey, and nutmeg spice.

Called the “wine of Kings, the King of wine” by Louis XIV, Tokaji is a dessert wine that has been made in Hungary since the 18th Century, although this type of wine production can be traced back to 1576. Produced from grapes influenced by noble rot, and therefore becoming sweetened, Tokaji wine typically boasts notes of balanced sweetness, apricot, peach, orange zest and chamomile.

Nose: Notes of rich tropical fruit, oranges, dried apricots and soft toffee, accompanied by hints of floral jasmine. 

Palate: Rich and robust packed with tropical fruit and notes of floral honeyed sweetness combined with mango, pineapple, orange peel and a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon spice.  

Finish: A slight salinity on the finish is accompanied by a ripe fruit influence, creamy cashew nuts, planed oak, and a lasting soft peppery spice.
