A unique barrel selection small batch release

The Story!
This oaky and fruity small-batch release results from one of Dr Bill's rare experiments with Cognac casks. It elegantly unites notes of spice and leather with Glenmorangie's wondorous fruitiness. The single malt's delicate fruity spirit was disstilled on Friday 22nd February 2008, and laid down in American white oak bourbon casks. Some eight years later, inspired by its soft, mellow taste, Dr Bill selected the whisky for a unique experiment with cognac casks.
 
He had long hoped to create a delicious marriage of flavours by finishing single malt in such casks. But during previous trials the power of the French oak had always overshadowed Glenmorangie's fruity style.
 
This time, he carefully selected a handful of casks which had been filled several times with cognac, imagining a more subtle wood influence. Finished in their depths for more than four years, this small-batch release finally brings his dreams alive.
 
With wonderful finesse, it threads the cognac casks' notes of clove , pepper and hints of leather through Glenmorangie's classic fruity tones.
 

 

 

Colour: Rustic gold

Nose: Apple tart and toffee are delectably deepened by a subtle note of forest floor. Then Glenmorangie's fruity bursts of baked apples, oranges and pears fill the air. A splash of water releases scents of butter candy, more sweet pastry and a touch of beeswax, delicately lightened by mint.


Taste: Sweet and almost sparkling, like toffee apples and baked pears scattered with almonds and slices of mandarin orange. That fruitiness is deliciously threaded with clove, star anise and soft hints of leather.

Finish: Long, elegant and gently mentholic.
